Leading Lines and symmetry

 Leading lines-

Leading lines guide the viewer through the image, allowing them to see the whole image. It can also draw the attention of the viewer to the main subject of the image. It creates depth and perspective and makes the image seem more three dimensional. The lines can be natural such as rivers or valleys, or created like fences of roads. The most effective way to put emphasis on the lines and main subject is by putting the subject at the end of the leading lines.

Symmetry-

Symmetry in photography shows that an image can be divided in half, vertically or horizontally, and be visually similar or be similarly weighted on either side. The image might mirror other parts and the two halves of the scene look the same and balance each other out. This balance makes the image seem clean, neat and proportional. There are different types: vertical symmetry, horizontal symmetry, radial symmetry, and reflective symmetry.

My 10 best:
I did not have an exact subject for this one, but I like how dark the photo is and how the bench lines lead to the door, which is the only bright part of the image.
I chose this image because there are multiple leading lines, like the hallway, lights, ceiling, and pipes that all lead to the main subject at the end of the hall.
I chose this photo because of the symmetry of the stairway, but also the leading lines. The spiral of the rails lead down to the bottom of the stair case. The bottom stairs and rail almost point to the end of the stairs and exit.
This image shows horizontal leading lines in the bleachers and the pool, but in the center of the entire image is a chair, almost putting emphasis on it. I also liked how majority of the image was darker colors and the chair was a bright white.
I chose this photo because of the leading that are shown in front of the main subject, Bree, and how the image is more focused on the shelves in the background rather than her.
I liked both the symmetry and leading lines of this image. It is very balanced on either side and almost identical. There are also many different lines that all lead to Bree in the center, like the railings, window, and all four stairs that surround her.
While this image is very dark, I like the leading lines within the bookshelf, as well as the light right above her that is almost like a spotlight to put emphasis on the main subject.
This image shows leading lines in the street, which is where the main subject is walking in the direction of, the snow, creating lines forward, and also the trees pointing upward, like the subject. It is also very symmetrical as she is in the center of the road and has a tree on either side of her.
I chose this image because of the rails leading up to the main subject and the doors. The poles on both sides of her also put emphasis on the subject. I liked how symmetrical this image was and how balance both sides were.
This image has multiple leading lines all leading up to the subject at the end of the hall. For example, the walls, the pattern on the floor, and the pattern of the lights on the ceiling. I like how the subject is directly in the middle, it makes the pattern of the lights and the pattern of the floor look like a reflection.
